Avast Web Shield constantly tests information moving on the internet and stops any possible infections in real-time. This shields you from ransomware which locks your data and requires payment in order to unlock them and Trojans that disguise themselves as legitimate software but inject malware onto your device. Web shield can identify phishing sites which attempt to steal your personal data.
Avira offers a variety of settings to customize the way avast Web Shield works. For instance you can alter the degree of sensitivity, which controls how much avast’s web shield examines data when you connect to the internet. You can also disable or enable HTTPS scanning as well as script how to build a custom laptop scanning. You can also stop botnet attacks. You can also create an exclusion list to block certain programs from being detected by web shield.
If avast detects malware, or potentially unwanted programs on your system, avast will attempt to repair the file first. If the file cannot be repaired, it will be moved to Quarantine. You will also receive a notification. You can also select an action for avast to take when a virus is detected.
If a web page or app that you know to be secure is blocked by avast You can add it to the exceptions list so that it won’t be blocked again. This can be done by selecting the Real-Time Shields tab and then selecting the Web Shield or File Shield item in the list. The Avast Security app and Avast One app have distinct methods of adding websites or apps to the list of exceptions.
