Asus is among the most renowned brands in gaming laptops, right with Alienware and other big names in the industry. Taiwanese manufacturer Asus has a range of products for all budgets, from low-cost models and powerful models with the latest GPU and processor technology.
The ROG Strix Scar 16 has high-end specifications, but is still an ultra-portable device. The 17-inch screen runs at between 144Hz and 244Hz, and has a 1080p resolution. This is sufficient to give you a full-on experience. Its battery lasts for 6-8 hours of use and its fans don’t get too loud, even under load.
The Scar 16’s design has some gamer aesthetics, but isn’t too flashy. Its transparent lid is the most distinctive aspect. It catches light and shines through tiny openings to create an effect of rainbows. The laptop’s display hinge also lifts the back of the chassis, which improves airflow and makes the keyboard slope towards you. Asus calls it the ErgoLift hinge.
This is a fantastic laptop for playing games, but it’s also able to handle reference other tasks that require a lot of processing like editing videos or manipulating images. It’s got plenty of ports – USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, HDMI 2.0b, 3.5mm combo jack and Gigabit Ethernet — as well as an SD card slot that is dedicated to. The speakers are loud, but can distort or become loud at high volumes. You’ll need to pair them with headphones. The only drawback is minor unwanted programs that you’ll need to eliminate, such as McAfee Personal Security and the Dolby App.
